TextMate AI (“TextMate,” “we,” “us”) is a reply assistant for dating apps on Android. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What TextMate does
TextMate shows a floating bubble over supported dating apps (Hinge, Bumble, and Tinder). When you tap the bubble, the app reads on-screen text from the current chat or profile to generate reply suggestions. Suggestions are pasted into your message input — you always review and tap Send yourself. TextMate never sends messages on your behalf.
Accessibility and screen reading
TextMate requires Android Accessibility permission to display the floating bubble over other apps and read on-screen text when you explicitly tap the bubble. We do not read your screen automatically or in the background.
- No screenshots uploaded: TextMate extracts text from the screen locally on your device. We do not upload screenshots to our servers.
- On-demand only: Screen content is read only when you tap the bubble to generate replies.
- Limited scope: TextMate is designed to work over Hinge, Bumble, and Tinder. It does not assist with apps that block screen reads (such as Instagram or Snapchat).
Data we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email address and a unique user identifier through our authentication provider (Supabase). This is used to manage your account, usage limits, and subscription status.
Usage data
We track the number of reply generations you use (for example, your daily free tier limit of 5 replies) and basic app analytics to improve the product. We do not maintain long-term logs of your dating conversations.
Subscription data
If you subscribe to TextMate AI Pro, subscription status and billing are handled by Google Play. We receive confirmation of your subscription status to unlock Pro features. We do not store your payment card details.
What we send to our AI backend
When you generate replies, the extracted text from your current chat or profile screen is sent to our server to produce suggestions. This text is used only for that generation request and is not retained for training on your personal messages. We do not use your conversations to train general AI models.
Data retention
- Chat text: Not stored long-term. Used once per generation request, then discarded.
- Account data: Retained while your account is active.
- Usage counts: Retained to enforce daily limits and display your activity in the app.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the app (authentication, reply generation, analytics) under contractual obligations to protect your information.
Your choices
- You can revoke Accessibility permission at any time in Android settings, which disables the floating bubble.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play settings.
- You can delete your account from the app (Profile → Delete Account) or follow the instructions on our Delete Account page.
Account deletion
When you delete your account, we remove your profile data, usage history, and authentication record from our systems. Subscription cancellation must be done separately through Google Play if you have an active Pro plan.
Children
TextMate AI is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated date.
